The Nintendo has been a household name for more than 20 years, starting out as the Nintendo 64. Although it hasn’t released any gaming systems that can compete with the Xbox 360 or the Sony Playstation3, it has been a leader in handheld gaming recently, with the Nintendo DS and previously the Nintendo Gameboy Advance.
Their latest version of a complete gaming console is the Nintendo Gamecube which has sold to thousands of homes simply because of its name. With new releases of the older game Zelda to be played, who wouldn’t want to own a Gamecube? Many times over, new versions of older games have been able to be enjoyed on this console.
For those that like to play on the go, the Nintendo DS would certainly be the way to go. With dual screens and even touch screen technology, it launched as the first of its kind. On top of gaming, the Nintendo DS offers the opportunity to keep in touch with friends wirelessly by writing notes or using the built in pictochat system.
The 3-D rendered graphics make this handheld even more desirable. A built in microphone port offers more ways to interact with game favorites, while leaving the opportunity to create voice activated games open for Nintendo game designers.
Backward compatibility is something that many new console gaming systems are offering, and the Nintendo DS made sure it wasn’t left out on this aspect. A port for Nintendo Game Boy and Gameboy Advance games gives the power of game play directly to the user.
When on a road trip or waiting in line at the DMV, the Nintendo DS offers not only game play to pass the time, but a rich stereo sound for any music you might be interested in hearing as well. Overall, the Nintendo DS is your best bet in handheld gaming, paired with wireless communication functions and additional audio entertainment.
